Elders in the Emweh Village have expressed concern over recent announcements of a planned pipeline from the Block 77 region, which borders their community. “No one has consulted us!” said elder spokesperson, Merritt Mimsaweh. “Over the past few months, Cromwell has disappeared. Where is Cromwell? What are their plans for development? How will this pipeline construction affect our way of life? Will Cromwell continue to respect the Emweh in their future plans?”
Meanwhile in the village, Roman Catholic clergy held special masses and village elders made ritual offerings to direct the concerns of the villagers to a higher authority. Village youth have voiced anxiety about the future with Cromwell. Where, indeed, is Cromwell.
