Protests

The central government is concerned that the current protests are a result of fear mongering.

While protesters should voice their concerns with the government, peaceful protests should be the preferred method. The Finance Minister speaking on behalf of the government had this to say:

"In a country that is still recovering from past civil wars, more unrest does not benefit the country. Protesters have wanted the government to model western examples of democracy and the government has done that.

By hiring a third party monitor, the government is being transparent and showing that it has no hidden agenda. For other countries with similar pasts to ours, it takes time to build infrastructure and it cannot be done overnight. The best way to ensure systematic long term growth, and not a media craze, is not by fear mongering.”
