CDUL, Friend or Puppeteer? Enweh People proclaim their own agenda, feel little association with CDUL

The CDUL claims to have the best interests of the Discordian people at heart. But when we recently spoke with tribal elders of the Enweh, they indicated that the CDUL had given them nothing more than window-dressing and a passing glance in terms of true discussion and attempts to understand the most valued issues of the Enweh.

While the CDUL touts their alliance with the Enweh, the Enweh feel compelled to tout their own agenda. They claim to take care of their own needs for food, water and shelter, with little need for the outside help forthcoming from local oil projects. While they don't need this help, they would welcome it, provided it is not overly imposing on their existing ways of life. They recognize that the funds from oil could help improve their economic situation, but want to emphasize that they have a proud heritage and culture that must be maintained in the modern context that oil developments would bring.

  1. CDUL Communication Director-Stanley Kazibwe, after having conversations with the Emweh Village, we are very much a friend of their issues. We will continue having productive dialogue and conversation with all groups that are aiming to help develop Discordia's vast resources. Furthermore, we will continue being an advocate for the local Discordians.
